Instructor Carol Obenchain welcomes all levels of artists. Beginners will select from pre-chosen paintings to learn basic skills, while veterans work on their own projects. Bring your own supplies. Beginners will receive a supply list upon registration.

Origami is an ancient method of transforming simple sheets of paper into an infinite variety of new shapes.  Each session will focus on a different theme, of which you will fold several simple models. Along the way you will learn basic terminology and how to read folding diagrams. Instructor: Cindy Scott.

August: Treat yourself with some cool, no-bake summer treats. We will be making cannoli cheesecake, tiramisu in-a-cup, and luscious chocolate mousse. For both classes, please bring an electric mixer, two bowls, and an apron. Instructor: Rosalind Lowen.

In this class we will make two salads using ingredients that are plentiful in the summer: grilled chicken with berries and Mediterranean rice salad. We will make generous portions to eat together (with some crusty French bread) and enough to take some home. Instructor: Amy Wilson.

Craving something unique and tasty? Come learn to create sweet and savory appetizers. You will be making sun-dried tomato basil roll-ups, cheesy bruschetta bites, apple and honey crostini, and cranberry brie pastry rolls. Instructor: Rosalind Lowen

August: We’ll be making bindi Jaipuri (chatpata fried okra), hyderbadi dum biryani (tender meat marinated in yogurt and spices, cooked with basmati rice), raita (yogurt based salad), and ganges jal jeera (a cumin flavored drink which is cooling and refreshing to the palate). Instructor: Akila Arumugam.

We will have watercolor painting classes in the September & October newsletter. Attend this class to meet the new instructor, artist Susie Wheeler. Learn the pros and cons of paints, palettes, brushes, and paper with the goal of saving money.

Not an artist but you like to doodle, or have no drawing experience at all? Learn how to turn your doodles into a frameable work of art. You will learn some easy, basic patterns along with your own ideas to complete a unique and beautiful art piece. Supply list at registration. Instructor: Karen Kloberdans.

For those who have experience in the class. Learn what can be done to prevent falls and support balance challenges. Posture, flexibility, and movement are key elements of this class. We sit, stand, move, and walk. Canes and walkers are welcome. Instructor: Helen Pflaum.
